The cheapest holiday places in 2026—including a surprising few top premium destinations

Skyscanner, a worldwide travel software, has identified this year's top ten cheapest places for American travelers, which include some of the world's most sought-after luxury vacation destinations.According to the statistics, while 44% of Americans intend to travel abroad in 2026, just 53% have booked flights, 32% have booked accommodations, and 15% have planned to rent a car.

Skyscanner found that Las Vegas, Nevada, is the most affordable destination for Americans in 2026.

Indecision about where to vacation and financial worries are the most common impediments to arranging trips. Nearly half of Americans are still choosing on a location, and more than one-third are still looking for the greatest deals – yet their expectations do not match reality."January travel preparation is extremely significant for Americans since vacations provide a much-needed break in the post-holiday season. Unfortunately, our research shows that in 2026, many Americans feel overwhelmed by the thought of booking (57%), with expenses being the top concern for the majority (71%)," Skyscanner's Director of Americas, Lourdes Losad, said in a statement.Skyscanner, on the other hand, identified the top ten cheapest locations for 2026, with some offering round-trip flights for as little as $28.Las Vegas, Nevada, ranks first on the list, with an average round-trip flight price of $232, based on roundtrip economy flights booked on Skyscanner between January 1, 2025 and October 31, 2025, for travel between January 1, 2026 and December 31, 2026. Anyone interested in visiting Sin City in February can find flights starting at $38 round-trip, according to Skyscanner's live travel pricing as of December 18, 2025.

Travelers looking to visit Las Vegas in February can book flights for as little as $38 round-trip.

San Salvador, El Salvador takes second place. Making the trip in March can get tourists flights for as little as $35 round-way, however the average round-trip price is $282.

Miami, Florida, was the third cheapest location, with round-trip flights starting at $284 and going as low as $33 in April – ideal for spring break.

Vacationers hoping to visit Hawaii in the summer are in luck. In July, flights to Kahului start as little as $59 round-trip. Skyscanner discovered that round-trip flights to Kahului cost an average of $329.

On average, the travel app discovered that the cheapest day to fly in 2026 is a Wednesday, which may surprise many. Nearly 31% of Americans believe that Tuesday is the cheapest day to fly.

However, the cheapest day to fly varies depending on the time of year and the route you choose.
