The Pacific War, also known as the Asia-Pacific War, took place in Asia, the Pacific Ocean, the Indian Ocean, and Oceania during World War II. The huge Pacific Ocean theater, the South West Pacific theater, the South-East Asian theater, the Second Sino-Japanese War, and the Soviet-Japanese War were all geographically smaller than this one.
Since the Japanese invasion of Manchuria on September 19, 1931, the Empire of Japan and the Republic of China have been engaged in the Second Sino-Japanese War, which began on July 7, 1937. The Japanese invasion of Thailand on December 7, 1941, together with attacks on the British territories of Malaya, Singapore, and Hong Kong, as well as US military and naval installations in Hawaii, Wake Island, Guam, and the Philippines, is generally seen as the start of the Pacific War.
Japan, with assistance from Thailand and, to a lesser degree, Germany and Italy, the Axis allies, faced out against the Allies in the Pacific War.
